Waste oil analysis, characterisation and regulatory compliance testing.
Measurements, sampling and analyses are carried out using current international standards in accordance with the legislation enacted in Türkiye covering the production, temporary storage, collection, transport, processing and disposal of category I, II and III waste oils, together with the measures to be taken to prevent their release into the receiving environment, directly or indirectly, in a way that would harm the environment.
Waste oils are analysed by the refining plant before acceptance. Based on the analysis, waste oils with a PCB value of up to 20 ppm that do not exceed 1% chlorine are processed by refining plants. Waste oils with a PCB value between 20 and 50 ppm that do not exceed 1% chlorine are sent to co-incineration plants, and waste oils with a PCB value above 50 ppm or exceeding 1% chlorine are sent to incineration plants.
Waste oils found unsuitable for refining are processed at co-incineration and/or incineration plants. At refining plants, waste oils are sampled in accordance with the TS 900-1 EN ISO 3170 standard and analysed using TS EN 12766-1 and TS EN 12766-2 for PCB, TS ISO 15597 for chlorine, or nationally and internationally accepted standard methods.
Alka Laboratories is accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Agency for waste oil category analyses. It is also accredited or authorised by the Ministry for determining PCB content in equipment and insulating fluids, and for petroleum products and waste oils, with sampling to TS 900-1 EN ISO 3170 and analyses to TS EN 12766-1, TS EN 12766-2 and TS EN 12766-3.
Under environmental legislation, the reports of refining plants authorised for waste oil analysis are valid. With its expert staff, technical capabilities and quality of service, Alka Laboratory supports this process within its scope for waste oil analysis.
